A Little Bit About Me & Mid-Sole!
Two of the greatest gifts that my parents blessed me with are an appreciation for the value of Christian faith and aerobic exercise.
What’s so great about them?
That question was asked of me a few years ago by one of the other people on the planning committee for the first annual faith and fitness “Cross Training” retreat put on by my church—Peace Lutheran—in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. I was going to be sharing my faith and fitness story at the retreat and he was curious what the focus of my talk was going to be.
“That they (running and Christian faith) are the two best things that I do for my overall wellness,” I replied.
Based on my experience; numerous scientific studies; and the experience of many others, running and Christian faith are pretty hard to beat for the wellness benefits that they offer.
Two of the best books that I am aware of that support this are “Spark” by John Ratey, M.D. and “The Healing Power of Faith” by Harold G. Koening, M.D. Both books are filled with scientific, fact-based evidence–along with stories of real people–that attest to the numerous health benefits of a regular faith and aerobic fitness practice.
A simple internet search will show that there are many other studies and resources that say the same thing: A regular Christian faith and aerobic fitness practice both can do much to improve our overall wellness.
My hope with Mid-Sole is to encourage the regular practice of Christian faith and aerobic fitness not just because they do so much to make us healthier as individuals, but more importantly because in doing so they help us to become better servants of the Lord and others.
Best wishes in finding and maintaining a healthy faith and fitness practice!
